PC Booster is a Windows optimizer and accelerator program. It has
an unique feature compared to other Windows accelerator programs whereby
it offers a tune up function that finds what could be improved automatically
in your computer.
However, if you like a do-it-yourself style, PC Booster also offers
many tweaks you can adjust to customize Windows yourself.
Is PC Booster compatible with my Windows version?
PC Booster runs on Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/NT 4.x/2000/XP.
Is PC Booster compatible with Windows XP?
Yes.
Does PC Booster run on Macintosh?
PC Booster does not run on Macintosh.
What benefits will I get from PC Booster?
The benefits differ for each computer. This is because each computer
is setup differently both in hardware and software installations. But
due to the many available tweaks that can be applied to most computers,
some improvements will be gained whether in data seeking, memory management,
CD accessing speed and/or other visual enhancements.
I am worried that PC Booster will stuff up my Windows
settings.
PC Booster has a safe fall-back feature. It does a backup of your
current system configurations before allowing you to change anything.
So if you are not happy with the tune up results or tweaks that you
have altered yourself, you can always select the restore function and
everything will be back to normal.
I am experiencing problems shutting down my computer.
This is due to the fast shut down option under the 'shut down' section
in the manual tweaks.
The cause is due to some computer hardware compatibility that is not
able to handle the fast shutdown and will treat it as if it is restarting.
To remedy, click on the manual tweak icon, go to the shutdown section.
Uncheck the item fast shutdown.
NOTE: This is not a bug with PC Booster but is part of a feature for
Windows. Windows disable fast shutdown on default installations but we
allow it for selection to get reduced shutdown time.
I have changed some values for MTU, memory cache
size, stack size, etc, but they always show as zero?
Some settings don't show up after being entered such as cd speed,
MTU, TTL settings, etc. this is design by default but rest assured that
when you press optimize the changes are applied to the registry.
I think I have downloaded PC Booster, but I can't
find it. Where is it?
After you have downloaded the program, locate the folder where you
saved the file. Once located, double click on the file to begin installation.
If you could not remember or can not locate the folder where you saved
the installation file:
Click on the Start Button.
Select Search and enter in pcb50.exe.
The search wizard will return the result of the search.
Double
click on the search results and you will then be able to locate the
folder and begin installation of PC Booster.
I have run AutoTune and also tried Manual Tweaks.
However I do not feel comfortable or wish to go back to my previous settings.
What should I do?
We recommend that you restore to the previous backup settings. This
can be done via:
Double click on the PC Booster icon to bring up the main program.
Click on File.
Choose Restore Backup Your previous settings would be restored now.
I have run PC Booster successfully once; now it
does not run again / When I double click on the PC Booster desktop
or Start menu icon, the program does not start / PC Booster does not
seem to be running. What should I do?
Please follow the following steps to get PC Booster running correctly
again on your machine:
If you are using Windows XP/2000 log on to your system with an Administrator
account
After you have logged on, press Ctrl + Alt + Del
Select Task Manager. Click on Processes
Verify that PC Booster.exe is indeed running amongst the list of programs
there
Click on PC Booster.exe and select End Process
Double click on the desktop icon again. PC Booster should run fine
now
After you have double clicked on the PC Booster desktop or Start menu
icon, access and use PC Booster by right clicking on the system tray icon.
Select Show Main Program.
The text is being cut off from the screen / The font is too
big. What should I do?
The oversized text is because you have set some of the Windows font
size to a bigger size, currently PC Booster is not able to enlarge so
the text will cover some of the buttons or get chopped off.
One solution is to reduce the Windows Font size which should make the
text fit into the window properly.
The exact way to solve this step would be:
Click on Start.
Select Settings.
Click Control Panel.
Double click on Display.
Click on the Settings tab.
Click on the Advanced button.
A new pop up dialog will be displayed. You should see the option for
General.
Under Display you can select Font Size. Select "Small Fonts" (96 DPI).
Click "OK". You can now read all the text in PC Booster.
